The manuscript, entitled “Tateyama engi” (Tateyama foundation \nlegend), was copied in 1630.This article first transcribes the newly discovered manuscript \nand then compares it to those extant recensions of “Tateyama kaisan engi” that bear a clear \ndate or for which we can estimate the dating.Thus four “Tateyama engi” are compared: the \n1630 copy manuscript in the Fukue collection, a mid-Edo-period manuscript in the \npossession of Zentoku zakki, a 1779 copy manuscript in the Nikkō-bō collection, and an 1853 \ncopy manuscript in the Enmei-in collection.A detailed comparison of word similarity among \nthese four works reveals a match of around 80 percent.
