Excessive stress can cause negative psychological states. \nHowever, reevaluation of stressful experiences can lead to personal growth. Benefit\u0002finding is a meaning focused form of cognitive coping with negative, stressful events. \nIn this study, we examined the effects of psychological stress of fearing COVID-19 and \nbenefit-finding on personal growth from experienced stress. A total of 270 \nundergraduate students participated in this study. The results showed that regardless \nof the level of stress, the groups with higher scores in the benefit-finding categories of \n\"acceptance and self-growth\", \"deepening of interpersonal relationships and awareness \nof warmth toward others\", \"awareness of the purpose of life\", and \"deepening of family \nrelationships\" showed higher growth from the stress experience. The group with the \nhighest score in the \"acquisition of new perspectives\" category showed higher growth \nfrom the stressful experience, regardless of whether the stress level related to the fear \nof COVID-19 was high or low. However, the group with a high stress level had higher \nscores for growth from the stressful experience than the group with a low stress le vel. \nBenefit-finding in stressful situations indicated that it was possible to obtain growth \nfrom the stressful experience.
