FLCs\nare often composed of faculty members who are interested in a particular topic, and in\nthe North America, methods such as small-group intensive training (institutes),\nretreats, and cohort formation (fellowship system) have been developed and are being\nimplemented as a variety of FLCs. In Japan, Ikeda et al. (2016) have created a\ncommunity of practice, but comparative research and conceptualization of FLCs in\nfaculty development (FD) practice and research is limited in Japan.
