内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 The present article is a study of linguistic phenomena which occur in Japanese TV news
programs. I shall examine sentences which lack important elements. Those elements include
grammatically required arguments and important information.
I show (Todoroki 2013) that sentences lacking important elements often appear as the first
sentence of each news story in the spoken language in TV news programs. In the language
used in those programs, important elements are often moved rightward in various ways. In
a typical case, the first sentence of one news story lacks important elements, which appear
in the following context gradually.
In this article, I show that expressions lacking important elements appear not only in the
spoken language but also in the written language used on the TV screen. I concentrate on a
consideration of the examples which appear in the list of news stories on the TV screen. I
compare those written expressions with examples which are used in the spoken language in
TV news programs, and with examples in the language used in newspapers and in the list of
news stories on the Internet. Moreover, I show that some written expressions used in
Japanese TV news programs are similar to examples in the list of news stories on the Internet,
and which factor causes the similarities.
